Zip files (.zip) are single files, sometimes called “archives”, that contain one or more compressed files. Zip files make it easy to keep related files together and make transporting, e-mailing, downloading and storing data and software faster and more efficient. The Zip format is the most popular compression format used in the Windows environment.
I like 7-zip, which is a free zip utility. It is fast and it compresses files very efficiently. This video will show how to download a file that is saved as a zip file. Then it will show you how to unzip the “archive” so that you can use the files that are included in the zip archive.

You may want to download 7-Zip and use that for zipping and unzipping downloaded Zip files. You can download the .exe (executable) and install 7-zip here.
